IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT SHARP INCREASE IN LIFE EXPECTANCY!
Global life expectancy increased sharply from 47 years in 1950-55 to 68 years in 2005-2010, the UN has said in a report.
The report by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said people are living longer mainly because of improvements in nutrition and hygiene, and advances in vaccines and medical treatments against infectious and parasitic diseases that are "communicable".
With the decline in mortality more pronounced at younger ages, deaths have become increasingly concentrated at older ages when people are more likely to develop "non-communicable" chronic and degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart and respiratory problems, the report said.
Globally, it said, the proportion of deaths at age 60 or over has risen from 26 % in 1950-55 to 54 % in 2005-2010.
According to the report, the shift from communicable to non-communicable diseases as the main cause of deaths has occurred in all regions of the world except sub-Saharan Africa, where the HIV/Aids epidemic is widespread and infectious and parasitic diseases still claim many lives.
If mortality continues to decline worldwide, the report said, the burden from non-communicable diseases will become even greater.
Because most of these diseases are chronic and require long-term treatment and management, it recommends that efforts be concentrated in delaying the onset of illness.
The report said governments can do this by taking measures to reduce the risk factors associated with chronic diseases such as overweight, physical inactivity, tobacco use and alcohol abuse.
It also calls for governments to address the global shortage of health workers, especially in developing countries.
The report will be discussed at a meeting of the UN Commission on Population and Development from April 12-16 at UN headquarters.

This week Hair Care tips! #01

One of the issues, which we are involved daily is how to dry our hair. The fast paced of our today's lifestyle; it forces us to choose the fastest and also the most convenient way to make it done. However, what is really the most advantageous, and healthiest method to dry our hair?
The healthiest way to dry the hair is after Rinse of your hair well after washing, you dry your hair with 100% cotton made towel, and let it dry on the natural air environment. However, this way is not always practical for many of us, and there are many different reasons such as lack of time, hurry, cold air and cold prefer devices that use electric blow dryers.
The most common way is to use Electric hair blow dryer, but the incorrect use of it can damage the hair shaft, and even the scalp. Therefore, when using the hair dryer is required the following points:
• Low temperature and the light speed may be used. Heat over 50 degree Celsius or 122 degree Fahrenheit cause damage to the hair.
• Maintain the distance of the hairdryer from your hair. The distance should be between at least 6 to 12 cm or (2.4' to 4.8').
• Do not blow directly air-flow to hair roots and scalp.
• Do not use the hair dryer on one spot more than a few seconds, blowing target must be changed frequently.
• Do not make hair completely dry. In order for hair to be soft and flexible it needs to be little moisture.
• On damaged hair, you must be more cautious, while you're using a hair dryer. Usage of hair conditioners and a light speed blow of electric hair dryer are recommended.

Branded Surgery Is Not Always the “Quick Fix” it is Advertised To Be
Have you seen the commercial for in-office procedures that will make your face wrinkle-free or sculpt your stomach, with no downtime and no scars? Lifestyle Lift, Lunchtime Lift, Thread-Tox, and Smart-Lipo, are just a few of the brand-name surgical procedures being marketed to the public as a cosmetic quick fix with a clever name. Brand name surgical procedures generally fit under two categories; first, those that are legitimately assigned the name of the person that has popularized the technique, for example Saldanha's lipoabdominoplasty or Furnas’conchal setback technique, (either through the efforts of that same person or others assigning his or her name to it) and second, those that are simply created by someone to market a the procedure to the public. The first situation is usually a very legitimate situation and is often in the scientific literature, but not in the public domain. However, the second situation has become very popular for cosmetic surgery procedures. But are highly marketed procedures really the right choice when deciding on aesthetic surgery?
If you decide a procedure is right for you, make sure you have done your homework, that the procedure has been fully explained, you know exactly who will be performing your procedure and that they are qualified to perform the exact procedure you are undergoing, and that you have thoroughly read and signed informed consent documents.
Facial surgery and body sculpting procedures are often marketed to the public with brand names. For optimal patient safety it is essential that the consumer be better educated about what constitutes appropriate training to perform operations such as facelifts, rhinoplasty, liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast surgery and cosmetic eyelid surgery when considering undergoing any of these procedures. The demanding residency program that all plastic surgeons must complete before they can be considered for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) ensures that they not only acquire general surgical knowledge and experience but, additionally, that they master the principles, ethics and practice of plastic surgery.

IS YOUR HAIR HEALTHY?
Did you know that you can identify how healthy your hair is by doing an at-home hair test?
TRY THIS!
• Pull a strand of your hair out and put it through a sewing needle.
• If the hair slides through it's fine or probably straight.
• If you have problems threading the needle or if it gets caught along the way, your hair is probably thick, wavy or curly.
• Another test is to fill a glass with water.
• Take a strand of your hair and place it in the glass of water.
• If your hair floats, it's healthy or may be a bit oily. As you know, oil floats when added to water.
If your hair sinks, the hair is absorbing a great deal of water. This means that your hair lacks moisture so it must be dry.
